Voice memos into your notes on the Mac
Trillian sends every new voice memo on your Mac to Deep Thought Cloud and writes the transcript into your own notes folder.
Plan: FreeIn alpha
For a Mac user who keeps notes in a folder or an Obsidian vault and records with Apple Voice Memos, where memos pile up and never reach the notes.
Trillian (alpha) watches Voice Memos and uploads each new memo. With iCloud sync for Voice Memos on, memos from an iPhone or an Apple Watch are picked up too. Every memo becomes a note in your own files, and a source in Deep Thought Cloud.

What you need
- A Mac with macOS 13 or later; on macOS 11 and 12, trillian-capture (on the Trillian page).
- A free account in the Web App, app.deep-thought.cloud.
- A folder for your notes, or an Obsidian vault.
- Full Disk Access for Trillian, which macOS asks you to allow.
Steps
- Voice Memos
- Trillian
- Deep Thought Cloud
- A note in your folder
Step 1: Create a free account
Open app.deep-thought.cloud in your browser on the Mac, sign up, and stay signed in: Trillian connects to your account through the browser.
Step 2: Install Trillian
Download Trillian from the Trillian page, unzip it, drag Trillian into Applications and open it. A small icon appears in the menu bar. The first time, it opens your browser, where the Web App approves this Mac once.
Step 3: Choose your folder
Click the menu bar icon, then Settings…. On General, set Vault path to your notes folder and choose Save.
Step 4: Let it watch Voice Memos
On Captures, choose Detect Voice Memos folder. macOS protects that folder: choose Open Full Disk Access settings… and switch Trillian on.
Step 5: Record a memo
Record in Voice Memos as usual. When the transcript is ready, a new
.mdfile appears in your folder, under_inbox.
What happens next
- Every memo as a Markdown note in your folder, with the audio beside it.
- The same memo as a source in the Web App.
- Only memos recorded after capture is switched on are sent. Sync from Deep Thought… brings down what is already in your account, record-me recordings included.
- The menu bar icon shows what is pending, processing and done.
